Legal
Acceptable use policy
Pandora Search is a tool for lawful investigation with open sources. This policy is part of the terms of service and applies to every account.
1. What every case requires
- A declared purpose, lawful and specific, written when the case is opened. It is recorded in the audit log together with every query made in the case.
- A legal basis for processing personal data when the case concerns a person, and compliance with the data protection law that applies to you (in the European Union, the GDPR).
- Proportionality: query only what the purpose needs, and keep the results only as long as it needs them.
- Verification: treat results as leads and check them before acting on them or publishing them. A match is not an identification.
2. Prohibited uses
- Stalking: following, locating or monitoring a person against their will, including former partners, relatives or acquaintances.
- Harassment: intimidation, threats, extortion or any use meant to cause distress.
- Doxxing: collecting or publishing someone's personal data to expose, intimidate or harm them, or to let others do so.
- Discrimination: profiling people or making decisions about them on the basis of characteristics protected by law.
- Unlawful surveillance: monitoring employees, tenants, customers, users or citizens without a legal basis.
- Special categories of data: processing, or trying to infer, data about health, sex life or sexual orientation, religious or philosophical beliefs, political opinions, trade union membership, racial or ethnic origin, genetic or biometric data, or criminal convictions and offences.
- Minors: investigating people under 18, or any search intended to locate, contact or identify a minor.
- Bypassing security or access controls: accessing accounts or systems without authorisation, using leaked credentials, abusing password-recovery processes, evading rate limits, CAPTCHAs or anti-bot protections, or scraping content behind a login.
- Breaking the law or the terms of use of the data sources.
- Sharing your account or reselling access to the service.
- Automated or abusive use: scripts, bulk queries outside normal use, or attempts to overload or probe the service.
- Deception: impersonating another person, or declaring a false purpose.
3. How we enforce it
- The audit log records the declared purpose and every query of each case. We review it when there is a credible report of misuse, a request from a competent authority or signs of abuse, and when you ask us for technical support.
- We may suspend or close accounts that breach this policy, with or without notice depending on the seriousness of the case, and we cooperate with the authorities as the law requires.
- Report misuse to info@pandorasearch.com.
